This auction is for a Houston Colts Black Faced, Mint Condition Bobbin Head or Nodder. They were made in 1963 and with the exception of the Cubs, all come on a round green base, the Cubs can be round or square. The Black Player Houston Colt is by far the most difficult nodder to find in the entire hobby. The Houston Colt Black Player is the "Holy Grail" of our nodder world. There are two variations of this particular Black Houston Colt bobbin head. There is the Type 1, regular face and no eyebrows and smiling, and Type 2, serious face with eyebrows and no smile. One of the price guides actually states that only 5 of these exist in the entire world. I've sold 3 now and I've been asking people for years now, to respond if they have a Houston Colts Black Face. My estimate is a total of 21 of these are in existence today. Even more interesting, is the fact that 16 of those are Type 2, the Serious face and only 5 are Type 1, the Smiling face. I've previously sold 3 Type 2, the Serious face, this would be my first type one, should it sell. It is my last one available and perhaps the only Smiley face you'll ever see? The first one sold at Christmas in 2017 for ,000 and the second sold exactly one year later for ,500 and the 3rd one just recently to my friend. The Smiley face, does however appear to be considerably more rare then the Serious face. Personally, I only collect the Smiley faces. They're happy little guys, as opposed to the pessimistic serious faced ones. I guarantee this Colt to be GEM MINT, original, never repaired, never restored, never repainted.
