Triple murder in Kakinada, family rivalry suspected as motive

A triple homicide in Salapaka village in Andhra Pradesh’s Kakinada district has shaken the residents there. The killings, which reportedly happened following an intense clash between two rival families, were discovered on Thursday, October 31. The victims, all members of the Bathula family, have been identified as Bathula Ramesh, his son Bathula Chinni, and his grandson Bathula Raju.
The incident reportedly occurred around 9 pm on Thursday night, reportedly triggered by long-standing enmity and recent derogatory comments exchanged between the involved families. The police said the bodies of the victims were found lying in a pool of blood with their heads smashed and sickles in their hands.
According to the police, preliminary investigations suggest the attack was sparked by old rivalries and derogatory comments made by the victims towards the accused families.
District Superintendent of Police (DSP) Vikranth Patil and Special Branch DSP Ramakrishna Rao were quick to visit the scene to ensure a thorough investigation. “We are examining all angles, as early evidence points to a family feud underlying the crime,” DSP Rao stated, and confirmed that the police were actively on the lookout for the suspected culprits.
The clash, which resulted in the triple homicide, has led to a heightened police presence in the village to prevent further tensions. The police have assured the local community of a swift investigation, with forensic teams gathering evidence from the scene. District authorities are focusing on securing justice for the victims and ensuring community safety.
